The Covid-19 pandemic has markedly disrupted the local economic system and daily life, where many local businesses have to deal with the economic impacts. However, Econsave Cash & Carry Sdn Bhd (Econsave) continues to grow progressively and is planning to add seven more supermarket branches by this year.
General Manager Mas Imran Adam said the setting up of the new branches, including in Johor, took into account the stable and encouraging increase in sales even though the country was under various Movement Control Order (MCO) since March 18, 2020.
“Econsave recorded an increase in sales during the first MCO period (in 2020) and even now the country is still under the MCO 2.0, there is still an increase in sales although the performance does not match the level before the Malaysia-Singapore border was closed.”
Mas Imran further added that currently, there is no closure of the supermarket chains. In fact, there are even plans to add seven more branches including in Johor by this year.
